Hand practice #1

Done as part of a 30 minute class.
My current goal is: Better understand human anatomy, so I can render imagined poses

I recommend drawing larger. That way, you’ll be forced to draw with your whole arm instead of just your wrist. It leads to cleaner lines, though it takes some time to get used to. Also, don’t try to capture every joint and bone. Just like in figure drawing, it’s important to find the rhythm in the pose and quickly note down the key information. So instead of spending 5 or even 10 minutes per drawing, aim for 60 seconds or ideally 30 and do lots of them. When you spend more time on a pose, try to think and draw more three-dimensionally, constructing the hand in space rather than just outlining it. Other than that, your line work is not bad at all for a start. So keep it up, you’re doing great.
