Sketching and portolio help

Hi there. I plan to apply to Fashion Institute of Technology soon and I need help on my sketching and portfolio. Do you guy have any advice that you can give me that will be helpful to me? Even the littlest or "stupidest" is very highly appreciated. Thank you !

It must be exciting to be putting together a portfolio. We'd love to help you out, but 'any advice' is a bit too generic for us to help with.

What sort of education is this exactly? What will you be learning? What sort of images do they expect (if you know this)?

I'm looking forward to study fashion design at FIT. I mostly need help with sketching croquis figures including the garments and help with deciding what kind of art utensils to use to add color and texture to the sketch. Thank you for your help!
