Boel69,

This image has a wonderful gesture of anticipation. But it may need a bit more distinction between the shadows and the anatomy.

I hope that's helpful

Thankyou, yes, I thought it might need that!

Boel69,

Consider redrawing this image on coloured/tonal paper, or if digital, change the background colour. This will instantly give your image better differentiation.

Having a tone paper helps create some of these distinctions between the light and the subject that your current drawing lacks. If you would like to do this cheeply cream newsprint or construction paper is a great choice for practice.

Looking forward to seeing your light becocme more dramatic,

Thankyou so much for this very helpful comment! I don´t have any toned paper at home right know, but I will try to get some and try drawing with that!

Boel69,

If you have light coloured pencils, chalk, or pastels:
You can always get your wrist, elbow and shoulder warmed up by toning your paper before you start your line gestures. That will allow you to have paper for longer drawing sessions and be ready to start your drawing session loose.

All the best,

Michellerose Cusack
