15min landscape studies with watercolor

by Noreenja, March 18th 2026 © 2026 Noreenja
Done as part of a practice session with poses of 15 minutes in length. I felt like using watercolor and did not know what to paint, so I turned to the landscape study tool here. I did not pre-draw anything and went in with the color directly. My goal was to have fun and become quicker at mixing colors using mostly primary colors.

Noreenja,

I think the main thing your images are missing is depth of field. Try to have less water and more pigment in your brush the further towards the foreground you come.

Watercolour is wonderful at creating atmospheric images. But if everything in the image has the same amount of pigment to water ratio, it neutralises the image by taking out the atmospheric quality of the paint that it has naturally.

Also, the closer something is, the more vibrant and more primary in colour you can be. Why? Cause the more vivid and less neutral colours tend to always be in the forground.

I hope this was helpful.

All of the best,
