I hope the site tools and the forums will be useful to you. :) Maybe you can share your works with us in the future?June 9, 2017 1:39pm #1905Hello Syl!
We don't set avatars on Line of Action itself. Gravatar is a tool that lets you upload an avatar on their site, and other sites (like Line of Action) where you use that particular email address will display the avatar you set.
The steps you need to take are:
- Visit www.gravatar.com
- Create an account on their site with the same email address you used on Line of Action
- Follow Gravatar's instructions on how to upload an avatar
- Save! Your avatar should show up. :)
Please give this a try and let me know if you still have any issues?February 25, 2017 5:16pm #1838February 25, 2017 5:15pm #1837Welcome fabiosilva! I'm glad you've found us, I'm very much looking forward to seeing your progress!

It looks very interesting and useful!February 25, 2017 5:12pm #1835Hi TheMiziko! Nekoora is right, the decent option is the one with clothes. The term was chosen because 'being decent' in terms of possible nudity means being clothed in English. It's a very common way to describe people/models not being nude.February 25, 2017 5:06pm #1834Hi Ribenapapi! I don't know of any resource at this time other than the real world. You can try to find stock images that display architecture (make sure their license lets you recreate the image for art studies purposes) though that requires some sleuthing through DeviantArt and other stock image places!February 10, 2017 8:38pm #1803Welcome ezekrialase! Your gestures look pretty good to me so far. :) Do you have any goals set for yourself in your journey to do figure drawings? Anything you find yourself struggling with?1February 10, 2017 8:34pm #1802Welcome to the site, Dennis!
My condolences on the loss of your father, that must have been difficult to go through. :(
I'm really digging your journey and passion for art however, and I like the sketches you've posted! There's never a time to stop learning either. :) Is there anything in particular you want to focus on in your art while you get back in the swing of things?1February 10, 2017 8:31pm #1801Hi Jonnydark!
That sounds like a very frustrating time for you. Are you feeling any better about your life drawings at this point, or does it still bother you a lot? I think a lot of artists feel like they're 'faking it' when they've built a negative relationship with their progress, so I think it's a good thing to focus on understanding that you can't improve if you don't "suck" first (aka you need to make mistakes before you can really learn).
Your figures all look really good so far, with a few proportional problems that will work themselves out if you practice diligently.
One thing that stands out to me is the scribbliness of your sketches. (Yes, that's a very technical term! ;)) Have you considered trying to work with longer strokes that capture motion in a figure more quickly, rather than doing short and jagged lines?
You might want to check out another member's thread, Swen has a lot of practice under their belt and focuses primarily on capturing motion the way I described: https://line-of-action.com/forums/topic/my-daily-gesture-drawings/
I feel that your figures would benefit immensely from having this as a foundation. Your current figures look pretty good anatomy wise, but I don't get the sense there is a lot of understanding of motion and motion range in them. They feel a bit on the stiff side because of that.1February 10, 2017 8:22pm #1800Hi vagabondblue! I don't have an answer for you at this time but I'll bring this to Kim's attention.
In the meantime, any additional information you can provide to us, such as which browser you're using on your iPad and which version iOS you're running on it, is extremely helpful in getting this sorted out.February 3, 2017 1:11pm #1790Welcome to the site ygetach4!
There isn't an official Google Hangouts for the site. Would you mind telling me what the goal would be in one? I'd love to hear that and see if we can do anything to work something out.
As for your 30 second gestures, Jason makes an excellent point! The purpose of 30 second drawings is to force you to capture the motion in simple, fluid lines rather than accurately portray a figure. We have an excellent article on this to help you understand its purpose if you're interested in reading:
