December 12, 2025 6:57pm #40059Thank you all for responding. I've also been using the bean method to find basic shapes and drawing bigger, its hard to not fall back into the habit of wrist drawing, you guys also helped me get a better understanding the FORCE method and you guys just helped me see what mistakes i be commonly making. Thank you all for helping build me upDecember 12, 2025 6:38pm #40058Yoo this was really helpful, thank you so much, limiting the amount of lines i can use really forces me to be more intentional with my approach and what lines i put down, i kinda used C and S shapes, idk how that affects the approach, there are definitely more Cs than Ss tho, also the 5 min poses allow me to really take time to understand the figure and digest the important marks to make, i will definitely be incorporating this into my practice, just gotta try thinking about FORCE now, cause i just kinda did the exercise to get a feel of it. THANK YOUUUOctober 23, 2025 3:57pm #39913Hiii
I think your approach to gesture drawing is quite cool and inspiring, you have a good understanding of silhouette, and the way you draw with the scribbly/continuous lines to get the overall shape of the figure is quite cool, especially seeing the difference in your 5 min in contrast to your 30 second drawings. I'm somewhat still figuring out what approach best works for me so its cool to see your different approach and how it works for you. There's clarity in the poses and you don't hyper fixate on small details which allow you to capture the overall forms quite nicely.
Keep it up PLEASSEE
also i guess id like to ask if the you actually draw in the line of action or is it something you see subconsciously and also how do you ensure you're maintaining realistic proportions?2October 23, 2025 3:40pm #39912Hiii, im 3vo
I just discovered the FORCE method yesterday and im not sure im doing it right, in my mind im still trying to think using the method taught on this platform by identifying the head, line of action, torso and hips and joints, however after having done that method for quite some time i aim for more fluidity within the execution and approach of my drawing. My issue is specifically where finding the leading edge fits into the method taught on this platform, and if it doesn't fit, how to maintain proportions without drawing in the torso and hips.
I think i am getting the hang of it though, ive been doing gesture drawing most days(although there are some times where im inconsistent), mostly 2 min gestures and my biggest problems have been the limbs and just scratchy lines, i even resorted to using charcoal to not fixate on small details.
ANY advice at all is appreciated
