Hello :D, I went to an art fundamentals course where we reviewed this topic and I think I have a usefull metoth to improve in animal drawing, first you have to understand that drawing animals from imagination is as if not more difficult than drawing humans, animal bodys are just as complex as the human body however because we dont see most animals every day we can get away with certain mistakes without anyone noticing unlike with human anatomy, also that you can't get better at drawing animals all togather, each animal is different from each other so you can get better at drawing felines, equids or you can get better at drawing all togather but you will still need to study the animals you want to draw before being able to draw them from imagination.

To get better at drawing the animal you want to draw you will have to make an study on them, the first step is to understand its basic anatomy and proportions, serch an image from the side of the skeleton of the animal you want and break down the relationship between how tall and how large the animal is (drawing a box around the animal's body is usefull, ignore the neck and the head for this step) , simplify its spine and its limbs, to finalize this first step break down the animal in simple shapes, no circles or round shapes, just simple poligons.

The second step is to draw gesture of the animal, gather some images and draw some quick poses, the principals are exactly the same of regular gesture, do as many as you want, the more the better of course.

The third step is to try to draw the animal as accurately as you can, gather many references and draw it many times, understand the texture of its skin, its fur, how it moves, its personality, after that try to draw it with out references, compare it to photos of the animal and spot the mistakes you made, then serch references that help you with the blind spots you have, repeat many times (the more the better)

The last step is optional but I highly recommend it, make an stylized version of the animal that exagerate its phisical attributes, draw it in situations that match their character traits but most importantly have fun.

If you have any question or doubt on any step you can ask me and I will make my best effort to awnser it :D

P.D: sorry for the funny english, my first lenguage is not english so I might made some orthographic mistakes
