10 minute apple

My current goal is: Fundamentals. I want to improve my observational drawing skills. Also I want to improve my rendering of highlights, shadows and patterns.

My suggestions if you're goal is getting down basics is to start with the big shapes. What basic shapes can you find in your subject (circles, triangles, sqares) before adding in details. Try to draw these shapes with a fluid hand rather than slow and stilted.
Also, I would practice shading with your chosen medium. If you're using a pencil, use the flat of the lead to make larger stroke marks which will allow you to get more variation in the tone and texture you can put on the page.
Keep it up!

Mostly stunning but fantastical job on your simplest yet fully organic form and shape of your apple, but I'm not getting enough of your most exaggerated but caricatured squash-and-stretch in your apples and fruits. Would you mind if you could please incorporate your forms into your funniest face drawings?
The premisal argument is because you can and shall and will be the most creative with your drawing fundamentals in terms of faces, in terms of expressions, and in terms of still lives. Therefore, for most details, please keep on sharing more of your roughest but scribbliest warmup sketches.Thanks.
