30 seconds

Done as part of a practice session with poses of 30 seconds in length. My current goal is: Better understand human anatomy, so I can render imagined poses

Excellent proportions! I especially enjoy the top few where you outlined the torso and offset the knee joint to give the illusion of volume!

Your linework has an excellent sense of drama, but I would like you to consider as you do your 30s that you vary your line quality. This small change will give your work a lot more dynamic appeal and improve what you are already doing.

Try the exercise thinner, thicker, lighter, darker.

This takes one buddy and you or a program that will call out at different times these words if you wish to do it alone.

-->It doesn't even have to be an art buddy. I play this with my husband. When I lose- get say five tallies against me, or he loses because I correctly get it, or he says "Ummm ahh..."- Pauses while speaking, he gets counts. In the end, the loser does the dishes.

-->You will follow directions while continuously making a line without stopping to do the exercise. The caller will call thinner while you are drawing a dark line. You will have to change the thickness of your line within 1 second. Or get a tallie.

--> If you have an art buddy, when you or they get it wrong, they draw after they get a tallie.

It's lots of fun. Plus, you will learn a lot about mass line, line quality, and how light is affected by the line.

After your first few times playing, have a reward ready. You'll probably be surprised by how tired you are after your first few goes at this game. Later, do this before you start your gestures, and I think you will see a big difference.

First of all your linework is excellent, it's clear, confident and gives the drawing a sense of volume and definition that lacks in many 30s sketches.

If you want to learn better anatomy is useful to know the landmarks and proportions of the human body. Begin by doing simple stick figures and then progress with more complex drawings. Here is a good, albeit old, tutorial about this: http://waylands_forge.tripod.com/123/figure3.htm

Also, your gesture is great! Keep regularly doing poses for a week or two and you will see vast improvements. I recommend you read "The Little Book of Talent" in order to understand how to structure practice sessions.
