Hello! This will be my first post. It's a little nerve wracking. I suppose the long and short of it is that I feel as if I'm not going anywhere, and it's about time I seek out feedback. The link below is for a 30 minute class. How can I get more out of these?

I'll apologize in advance for the poor picture quality. It never gets very bright in here.

Thank you in advance for any kind advice givers.

Well I guess the first thing to ask is what do you ultimately want to be able to do? I would say that the answer to this question is where your journey really begins. Since once you've established that you can then focus on what you should be doing and as time pasts you can see where you're going and how far you've come. Long as you keep drawing your are making progress. Good stuff by-the-way.

I'm not sure there is an ultimately, as ultimately I'd just like to improve and improve. More short term, though, I'd like to be able to draw humans (and other things, of course, but humans are especially complicated things) with a certain level of accuracy. Other goals include drawing more faster and filling in my visual library, but both of those come with grinding more than critique.

Yea of course I think those are everyones goals. But you mentioned about being on the right path which is why I ask what it is that you're ultimately trying to do. Drawing people then ok, lets get more specific. Do you want to be able to accurately draw the human form or does that take a bit of a back seat because you want to be able to get a accurate likeness of a person with portraits?

I'd say form is probably more important to me in the long run, at least regarding gesture drawing.

Continue with the gestures then as often as you can and this plateau will past. And just get used to being on the plateau. If you want some serious insight into this theory check out the book Mastery by George Leonard.

Just want to chime in and support Eros' suggestions, they always have good advice. :)

Continue practicing your gestures. Getting more out of them usually comes down to practicing more frequently. Even 10 minutes every day of just a few gestures can dramatically affect how fast you get ahead.

Your current gestures look like you're not able to complete the gestures before time runs out. If you haven't already, try checking out these articles. They are very helpful to get figures down in time. You can also crank up the timer to 60 seconds a gesture and then work your way down to 30 seconds!
