I think your drawings are quite good, and I agree with others about visualizing the models in 3D. A brief review of artist's anatomy would be the only other suggestion I can offer. I think we can all benefit by going back to basics from time to time. You're doing great, so keep it up.
1January 21, 2017 10:47pm #1757Sanne said it all! You are capturing the essential "flow" of the body, and in my mind, that's what a 30-second gesture drawing should do. I think alternating between 30-second poses and longer poses might be a way to go, and I look forward to seeing more of your drawings.
1January 21, 2017 10:44pm #1756I think your hand drawings are good. Hands are extremely difficult to draw for many artists. The best remedy seems to be practice, practice, practice. You're off to a very good start.
1January 21, 2017 10:42pm #1755Hi, Ana! I've just joined, so it's very nice to meet you and see your work. You're quite talented.
January 21, 2017 10:41pm #1754Hi, Jason! I've just joined the site today -- although I've used it for a while. It's good to meet you and see your artwork. Very impressive. I'm sure you'll find lots of inspiration here.
January 21, 2017 10:39pm #1753Hi, Readholes! The key to any successful learning experience is consistent practice, and that's especially true with drawing. I'd also advise you to get a sketchbook and date every drawing you do. This provides a visual record. You'll be able to look back and see how much progress you're making, and that's a very important part of learning to draw, I think. There are many great books and online tutorials to check out. And don't forget to have fun!
January 21, 2017 10:36pm #1752Hi! I'm not qualified to provide a critique, although I think your illustrations look good. Do you have a library near you? You might want to consider checking out an "anatomy for artists" book. I've studied anatomy and I've fascinated by it. There are far too many different muscles groups for me to keep track of though :)
1January 21, 2017 10:33pm #1751If I can capture any sense of movement or form in 30 seconds, I'm happy. I think your gesture drawings go well beyond that!
1January 21, 2017 10:31pm #1750I think your sketches are very well done, Jason. I agree with Sanne about romanticizing the past. Artists grow and change.
