Trying out hands for a little bit

CBesnard

Hi !

I like your hands poses, they looks really realistics. Proportions are good ! It is very hard to draw hands and you draw it well !

Maybe the first hand on the top right are a little disproportionnal, the palm is to thin on the side of the little finger. It looks like the little finger is broken.

But great job ! Hope I could draw hands like you one day !

Hello, Forte! Good sketches!

First, I would like to give you some advice about taking photos of your work. A scanner is best if you have access to one. If you don't, try taking a photo during daylight outside. Take the photo as square-on as you can make it (so the camera and the pages are parallel planes to one another) so the sketches don't appear skewed by perspective c:

I love the evidence of building structure in your hand poses! Great job!

The top sketch on the right page looks like the thumb is too small compared to the long fingers. The bump of the ulna is a great landmark and important to include; that sketch is certainly benefitting from your understanding of anatomy!

Middle sketch on right page: good construction again! Next time try to define the arm and the object more so all of it appears solid, not just the hand.

Bottom sketch on right: Foreshortening is really tough! Try constructing the hands out of cylinders for construction and see if that gives your fingers the proper 'shape' as the rest of the hand.

Best of luck practicing!
