10 minute anatomy drawings !

by mars, September 3rd 2021 © 2021 mars

Done as part of a 30 minute class.

My current goal is: Improve at correctly capturing the overall proportions of the human form

Id appreciate any feedback or tips! I know I'm a bit rusty and I need ideas about how to get back into this properly! Thanks!

The only problems are;

Your line control, it's indecisive and unsure which breaks the gesture a tad. There's warm-up exercises for that though, I think Proko covers some of 'em in his earlier videos.

Your gesture's stiff, it seems your looking at the contours instead of the overall flow of the pose. That should improve with time and gesture practices. Again Proko has some good videos on it.

You've already got proportions as a goal so I won't touch on that (and tbh my proportions suck)

And that's all the errors I could find. You should be cool on structure for a while, maybe some proportion improvements but other than that, good shit.

Thank you !! This is super helpful. I'm going to look into some of those videos. I appreciate the feedback.

Way to go on how well you've articulated your overall proportions, flatlinessss.

My tinest, littlest critique for you could and would be that, though your general proportions and angles are getting to be there, yet, your feet and hand relationships are a bit too wonkiest for my sensibilities for me, see? Would you mind if you should be able to check out this video down here?

Not to mention the thing where you could be able to first pick out the hand and feet part in the video, then you'd pause the video, take a still frame of it, and later duplicate the still frame, rotate the stills three times for three of the frames, and later, study them for the 10, 5 and 2 minute drawing of the gestures of the proportions (relationships)

The (size) relationship between the hands, feet and head.

Good luck to you, your goals, and I hope you'll find these completely and totally helpful and beneficial.

Very nice figures. Good start. You need to study human anatomy (bone & muscle structures). There is much information on the internet for free. Use it. Study hands & feet. Line-of-Action has practice information on these subjects. Look at works by other artists. See how they have done hands, feet, head/faces, etc. Learn from them so you can incorporate the knowledge into your work. It will not happen overnight. Date your work so that 6 months from now you can compare the old works with the more recent and see any improvement (improvement are good for you). Remember: Practice makes better.

M. Flatlinessss,

Try focusing on the over all main shapes and build up the details from there.

Shapes to look for

Eggs

Cylinders,

Cubes, including rectangle ones

Cones.

Exercises

Then find some masterworks you really like.

Print off their drawings in black and white.

Take a coloured pencil and assign a colour to each of the shapes.

Find those basic shapes in the masterworks and draw them in.

You will be so surprised how many you can find. Then once you feel you are proficient at the above exercise do it again but this time with photographs. Eventually, you will do this automatically while you are drawing from a naked page.

Enjoy the pratice.

All the best,
