Do you have any Digital painting Photoshop tips or tricks? I am new to this medium and I did a bit of experimentation on a sketching app and what you see above is what I ended up creating. I am afraid it is not as clean as I would like it to be. But when you are drawing with your fingers, it can feel rather clutzy on a tablet. (This is before I knew about stylus pens.)
I am currently taking a digital art class, and any of you fancy techies have a few recommendations I would love to hear from you.

It looks mostly like your current limitations are technical. You mentioned taking a digital art class, so that is a good starting point, but digital art moves quickly and often times the courses can be outdated in just a year or 2.
Biggest thing first, the tablet you get matters a lot, XP-Pen currently makes the best bang for your buck tablets, Wacom makes the best for the most money.
If you want to draw on a small tablet, the ipad combined with procreate is fantastic, and the apple pen is fantastic too. Also important here, 3rd party stylus are no where near as good as the apple pencil on ios, just take the hit and buy it.
Actual art program to use has some options,
Photoshop is good, but gets expensive with time
Procreate is great but only on the ipad
Clip studio paint is fantastic (my current favorite) but has an upfront cost
Those are the only 3 I would currently recomend this month, other programs will work but they often suffer from issues, or have not updated recently.
To control the edges of your colors and objects I recomend learning to use the lasso select tool to block in shapes quickly, think of it like using masking tape or fluid in traditional painting, very similar.
And take time to learn about the ways the different blending mode algorythms work, or at least what they do.It can really speed things up digitally.
Good job on your first ever attempt at a digi-painting, jcmlfineart. Love how much use of a range of complementary temperatures, hues and values. Great job on those.
What I must see something off on this is, that, though the reason why the painting doesn't look really clean is because, you seem to have altered the resolution and ppi (dpi) of your canvas. Would you please keep this in mind next digital illustration, is to be a little bit more varied but consistent with your canvas resolution?
