Advice Wanted

I'm working on a piece for school and was hoping for some advice. The image it is based off is the following:

Here is the quick gesture. Any advice on this level of the drawing is especially appreciated.

The tooth of the paper was torn on the shoulder from using too much pressure. For some reason, the white didn't take unless I used some force. I was using colored pencils but ended up using some white conte and that's when the paper tore.

Hi Savage! I think that your sketch looks good! To me though, it looks like you may have flattened out the forms. The shading is nice, but one thing that came to mind for me, was that it looks like the arch ( in his waist/ back )was straightened out. I also noticed that in areas like his pectoralis, it seems fairly flat, and not as fleshy/round. These are just my thoughts, I hope that it helps! Nice work anyway!
