Done as part of a 30 minute class using my drawing monitor and clip studio paint My current goal is: Better understand human anatomy, so I can render imagined poses

This blue color is killing me. But it does grab my attention. You seem to have a very good understanding of form and overlapping shapes. Everything feels like a solid shape, and the bones are not made of rubber.

The biggest issue is your proportion. On the standing 5 min pose. Her humarus should come to the end of the rib cage. And your sitting 5 min pose the femur should be the same length as the tibia+the heal of the foot.

The fastest way to improve proportion is to isolate it. If you draw flat box’s around a figure with no forshortening. If you can draw those box’s without looking at the reference, you will be developing proportion in a way that sees the whole of the object, not just the measurement. But my god is it boring. You can also copy simple images larger then sight size. And you will be flexing this skill.

Good proption should be carrying itself all the way down to the 1 min poses.

Your proportions are killer! It seems like you're grasping proportion and anatomy well, the muscular structure you're using is consistent and largely correct. The only thing I would say is to keep in mind that shoulders and hips have a balanced tilt that is opposite, a great vocab word that's burned into my brain is contrapposto. I think your poses will look slightly more alive with an adjustment of the hips in relation to your shoulder placement!

Hi VivaNecro!

Your drawings have a great sense of proportion and gesture. Your 5-minute pose on the right is especially well done.

I would recommend doing studies on simplifying shapes in various parts of the anatomy.

The first part of this love life drawing video shows this idea very clearly. I think there is a lot more you can do in the time you have for your figure drawings if you have more of this applied knowledge. Having the knowledge to draw through the figure and having a sense of volume will be key to drawing from imagination.

Good luck!
