Face Study (1hr+) – 08/02/2023

I only intended for this to be a quick loomis test after doing a set of intuitive sketches.

Once I was done with the loomis layout though I started to notice it was making it hard to really associate the photograph with what was in my diagram, things were just not fitting and I quickly drew over it and went with my eye again.

However that quickly ran into issues as well, the nose was too low, the mouth was drooped and the cheek bone was extremely exxagurated... so I drew over it again.

It's not perfect, quite a few things wrong but I definitely think I need to keep practicing loomis skulls, the greatest challenge out of this was the angle of the head.

Good morning, Martin. Nicest job on your control and articulation of your facial edges, gestures, spaces, relationships, tones, and of course, the whole. Please do push yourself the most, though your facial exaggeration still is too timidest to me yet. How would you like to make your facial relationships the most liveliest and confident with a 10-minute face sketch of Loomis head?

The logic behind this is consequently, your facial relationships can, must, and will become the least stilted, but the most caricatured, flowing, and liveliest. So, for most details and tips, please look into a copy of Action! Cartooning (Ben Caldwell) and a unique drawing tutorial on drawing facial expression sketches.
