It's really good that you are finding your landmarks (Ex: Angles of the shoulders, hips, etc.)!
To make your gestures more dynamic/expressive, try to add more features as part of your "base".
For example, try starting to landmark the angles of the collarbone, groin and bellybutton. I found this helps me orient myself and is a quick way to make gestures feel more fleshed-out.
