Hi there...

Ive been watching lots of drawing tutorials recently, and ive been noticing, that many artists seem to have special sharpening technique or something...

Their tips are so much longer than what ever i get... even if i hold the pencil in a very extreme angle so that it stays sharp and pointy all the time...

look at this pictures for example:http://www.down-down.com/uploads/images/drawingpainting-tuts/2012/11/06/1352234628/1327833999_.jpg

Are they using a special sharpener or something?

Hope someone can help me :-)

Cheers
Lukas

Hey there, Lukas. =D

Yeah, there are long-point pencil sharpeners you can buy: http://www.dickblick.com/products/kum-long-point-pencil-sharpener/

You could also sharpen the pencil with a knife and shape it the way you want it, and save some money.

Something you could also look into is a clutch drawing pencil. If you haven't heard of them before, it's like a mechanical pencil, but they come in thicker graphite-stick sizes than the average mechanical writing pencils, and with that, you can adjust the lead to the length you want.

I hope that helps a bit. =]

I didn't know they made sharpeners that could give you more length. However I think you're looking for this

Holy cow, this is news to me. Amazing. I'm going to order one and see how it works.
