This is my first timed set after finishing the Love Life Drawing Beginner Series. I'm still struggling with certain aspects on longer figure studies, but I learned plenty. I would love to hear any critiques.

Thank you, Polyvios. Next time, I will remember to warmup with quick sketches beforehand.

Hello, I went to my fourth live figure session today. I've had less time to study art lately and was glad to still see some improvement today. I didn't have time to warm up before going to the session and I was nervous, so I believe this attributed to my more awkward gesture drawings. I struggled with beginning to add some of the contours on slightly longer poses and only picking one part of the body to represent the contours of, as opposed to putting down a few lines to respresent flesh on the whole body.

I'd love to hear any feedback, thank you.

I tend to struggle the most with foreshortened hands and found this video really helpful: link

Hey, I really appreciate your response and will follow your advice. Taking time to loosen up in other drawing practices is something I tend to forget unless I'm mindful about it. I have heard the saying, but have never seen it attributed. I'll check out these videos.

Hello, I just finished my third live figure class and would appreciate critique of my sketches. The model was excellent and posed very dynamically, which posed some different challenges. Surprisingly, I had more difficulty with the quick gestures. I partially attribute this to not warming up the day before. I'm still trying to work on my proportions and figure-to-page compositions. It is frustrating to keep cutting off the legs!

I'll check out these videos, thank you for the recommendations. I agree with your critiques - my shading is confused and my figure-to-page proportions could use some work. The class did start with 10 - 15 quick gesture drawings, the rest were long poses. I would have preferred more gestures to warm up on, but I'm thankful for any opportunity to learn from life all the same.

    Thank you for the advice!

Hello, I recently completed my second live figure drawing session after not strudying the figure for about 6 months. I did much better this time and am happy with my progress on gesture, but my 10- and 20-minute poses are . . . painful. I would greatly appreciate any critque offered.
