hi! its been a while since i've been on here and honestly its been a long time since i've last drawn... i decided today to brush up on my gesture skills and something new! These are my first chalk pastel figures (each one is 1-2 mins long). I find pastels quite difficult to control and of course its difficult to correct mistakes. If anybody has tips of chalk pastels and/or my drawings in general i'd love to hear them!

ps sorry for the weird skinny arms and legs

Hey!! I love those sketchy lines you do!
As a viewer, the quicker poses are a bit difficult for me to understand but that might be because the photo quality.

Technically, so,e of the proportions may be slightly off— particularly the head. It is a bit big. Also, although they are beautiful, I think it’s important to fully draw the body including hands and feet before any shading takes place. But I get it, drawing hands seriously sucks.

Anyways I think you’re doing really great so far and I can’t wait to see where you’ll go :)

Hi! I’m not a professional so just take my advice with a grain of salt but I think these look really good!! the overall weight of each drawing is well distributed.

It seems like you don’t do a lot of construction lines and are more just copying what you see rather than observing the body structure (Im guilty of doing that too) I find that drawing the shapes of each body helps keep the whole figure more proportionate. For example: I noticed that in fourth pose, the bicep of the right arm doesn’t really match up with the forearm. If you draw the whole arm at once, problems like this will be less likely to arise. But anyways i hope this makes sense and good luck to you! You already have a really awesome start :)

Thank you! Yes i focus on the shape of the body. I did post a couple longer poses with the same package (there are a couple 1 mins, 5 mins, a 10 min, and a 25 min at the very end of the album)

one of biggest concerns is that my proportions are always out of wack even when i am looking at a reference
