Day 2

Done as part of a 1 hour class.

My current goal is: I don't know! I am an absolute beginner; I'm here to study the basics of rendering

Hi Ashpipe,

This looks great especially for just beginning! It would be good to know how much time you spent on this piece for future reference, when you upload after using a timed session it will automatically put that in the description before you upload an image.

You have done a good job of capturing the surface forms. This piece does have some problem with proportion on the lower half. Either the torso is too long or the legs are too short, a correction could be made in either direction without much change to the upper body. Part of this might be the perspective, the legs appear to be tilted to the right (looking at the feet). Also, the drawing medium you are using tends to make the drawing look flat.

Some of my drawings from a few months ago had some major problems with proportion in the lower body so feel free to reference some of my sketchbook (we have a similar medium too). Again you have the forms down really well and the surface landmarks are captured well here, keep it up!

Damn... This is from an "absolute beginner"? It's hard to believe that, haha! The lines look so good. You have such nice action in the pose. I can see where you captured the position of the ribcage, which is something I need to learn to do better. What does stand out to me is that the torso seems quite long in proportion to the rest.

Otherwise great start, I am also at "beginner" stage but my work is much rougher. Good luck! :)

Wow, I think you've done an exceptional job with expressing the fluidity of the pose as well as how the skin wraps around the trunk of the body. Although you should try to include hands as often as you can because they often convey a lot of character and action of the pose.

Also for hair its often much better to keep it as a single shape, than drawing few strands here and there. It makes the hair look full, adds volume to it :)

Keep up the good work!
