jellyfish

Done as part of a 1 hour class. I got carried away a little and settled on this beauty

My current goal is: I don't know! I am an absolute beginner; I'm here to study the basics of rendering

Polyvios Animations

Good work on your observational digital drawing/painting, Ailinon.

Again, if I was to suggest you a critique, then it would be that your gesture is really coming out, but I really want to see more and more of this. Why don't you please loosen and lighten up your forces with 5 minutes of 30 second sketches of the animals?

The reason why is because, though your first sketch is a sea jelly (jellyfish), it would be extremely useful to make your animal sketches less stiffer, and more than fluid, energetic, and lively.

If it's gonna be a bunch of scribbles, then so be it!

Anyway, hope you've found this extremely, completely, and totally helpful and encouraging.

Thank you! I didn't think about it, but it really is what I need for aquatic animals. I'll try!

This is gorgeous! The detail on the cap and tentacles is lovely. However, the shading is a little muddy in places - maybe try some excercises rendering objects where you try shading with hue changes as well as/rather than value changes? For example, adding purple into shadows rather than black, or making highlights a pale yellow rather than just a paler version of your base colour. I think it'll really help add depth to your work!
