do you have any pictures of your drawings that show what you are struggling with?

Practice really does make perfect, try, when you are drawing from a reference maybe try drawing it again without the use of the reference.

a gesture is more capturing the energy and movement of the pose rather than actually having it look like something. you should not expect to have the proprtions correct, and all the limbs, 30 seconds is more just warming up.
