Done as part of a 1 hour class.

My current goal is: Improve at correctly capturing the overall proportions of the human form

Mx. Abi

When I was newly starting out as an artist, the only access I had to training in the human figure was action comics. And in many ways it took me a long time to leave that behind, it's a different set of proportions and style.

But one of the things that I kept from this was the way every figure started out in a mannequin figure, and we had to draw absolutly everything. Even if it was not visible.

If the arm was behind teh body, you sketched the arm in. It was difficult, and did result in tracing to a new page, or erasing. But it resulted in a much stronger understanding of what you were doing and how the body fit together.

Your shorter sketches have good movement, and they show a good understanding of proportion. I am familiar with the image that was used for the longer sketch. i have been using this site for 2 years and rarely come accross a figure reference that is completly new for me. (unless it's part of the new packages). And your image reads as if you are approaching things from the countour, and not thinking about laying down all of the internal shapes.

If you drew this figure as a mannequin, and included every limb. Showed what the figures left leg looked like under the right, would it change?

You have good work here. you need to own what you see more
