Enivorment studies

I have never done enviorment scenes before. I used the lasso tool and color to try and convey the scenes. The extremley detailed scenes of grass, leaves and light on waves overwhelmes me so I tried to do quick and messy bits in order to not get caught up on the details. Would love some advice on how to best draw these
