Done as part of a 1 hour class.

My current goal is: Improve at correctly capturing the overall proportions of the human form

(First time giving a critique, sorry if the feedback isn't helpful)

You have reached a good point with stick figures, the proportions are pretty good and you can clearly tell what each pose is meant to be despite the lack of detail. The next step would be to try more with larger shapes (figure furthest to the right has a bit of this an it's easily the best one)

Also, I cannot tell where the hips/waist are in some of the poses, it would look better if one of your starting lines was marking where the waist is (and what angle it is at). This would help as well with attaching the legs nicely.

Thank you for your feedback, I will pay more attention to larger forms next time and make sure that hips line is visible :). Your advice helps me a lot.

Stick figures are great for initially planning your figures. Once you have the figures planned out, you can expand them (flesh them out). Have you used the internet to see how to plan out your figures using heads as the measuring unit? Have you done work on hands & feet? If the answer is no, you need to change the answer to those questions to 'yes'. It is not going to happen overnight. Also, it is not impossible to do. Work, persistence, and practice is the way to get the progress you want. So, get busy. You can do it.

These look awesome!! I'm also trying to improve my overall proportions in anatomy. The head to body ratio is spot on! The only critique I have is that the legs on some of the bodies look a bit short. Overall these look great though!!

Hi Zet,

it looks like you developing a solid understaning of basic proportion which is good. I would try to spend some more time on these figures and add some more mass to the basic framework that is already there which looks quite sound. There are so many ideas to explore within the visual language. Look to those who you admire to get a sense of how they express these ideas and do your best to emulate. Keep it up and enjoy the process.
