I've recently started learning how to sketch human figures. I have always wanted to be able to draw quickly and accurately. My goal is to complete 1 year of sketching and track my progress. I'm still working on getting hands and faces drawn properly.

I love the values on this piece. I do notice a bit of stiffness especially in the hands. It was helpful for me to take a week and focus on hands and the way they are constructed, and in general that can be a tricky part of anatomy, so don't feel discouraged! I adore the overall silhouette and the light on the figure. The proportions are good.

Very dramatic drawing. You are doing nice work having just started to draw the figure. Line-of-Action has a section on drawing hands and feet. Spend some time there. I do not know your background in human anatomy ( muscles & bone structure). It would not hurt to do a study in these areas. Also, on your drawings, be sure to date them so you can go back and see your progress. In a local life drawing session, I keep notebooks that have the date and time of each drawing. They go back 6+ years and I have 30 notebooks. I can go back to review them or use the material to do new pictures. Rember: Practice makes better. So you need to practice, practice, and then practice some more. You will see an improvement.
