Inktober Day 12

by Jman3, October 13th 2018 © 2018 Jman3

Done as part of a 30 minute class.

My current goal is: Better understand human anatomy, so I can render imagined poses

I will use Inktober as a way to getting better at drawing human figure and try to get a more consistent drawing schedule by gaining some skill and therefore more pleasure to continue bettering my artistic abilities.

Today I spent some time working on the form of the rib cage and the pelvis (see first page). I realized I didn't have a good picture in my mind of how they looked at different angles. To remedy this issue I did a front, side, and top view of the bones to get a better feel for them. This was helpful and my drawings came along quite nicely in the 30 minute session that followed. I didn't feel too rushed and I think I got things done on time for the most part.

Critique is open this time I am curious to see what others think.

Notes for the final drawing:

I am happy with how this turned out. There are some issues where I made the legs too small and I didn't have enough time to get to the rope, hands, or face. The parts I was able to get too I think worked out well.

It's great to see you started with some real anatomy study! That can be so valuable to understanding poses that you see later.

On your last page, I see some consistent wrong proportions - the legs and torso of most of the figures on that page do not seem to match one another in size. I'd put some focused practice in on comparing the proportions of the top of the body against the lower half of the body for a week or two.

Thank you Kim! I will be sure to check the proportions of the lower body in my ongoing studies!

Good evening, Jman3, how are you?

Greatest job on your range of movement on your rib cage and the clearest negative spaces of your poses. But, regarding your problem, I see that the limbs like legs all seem too timidest but stilted to me yet. Why don't you please go ahead with our interactive drawing tutorial here on our website, but thanks.

As a result, your leg relationships can and will be least stiffest but the most fluidest but flowing.

Good luck from us to you.
