Figure Drawing 23

by Sawyer_Sweet, October 14th 2018 © 2018 Sawyer_Sweet

Done as part of a 30 minute class.

My current goal is: Reduce stiffness and make my drawings feel more dynamic, energetic, fluid

Many thanks to Line and HornetofJustice for their critiques- I've tried to work your advice into my work here. Less busy, less lines, more thought about strokes and you were right- it does have more life, and it's overall more accurate and pleasing to look at, I feel. It stressed me out horribly not to have the anxious outlet of simply scribbling, but I'll get used to it. I like the results quite a bit. They are simplier, but more complicated things like shading will come with practice doing things this way.

Heh, it takes a while to reduce that line anxiety doesn't it? I still have to consiously stop my wrist from moving instinctively, heh.

Don't worry, it looks like you are doing great!

Only a lot. >_> I think all the nervous energy I have built up could power a small city now.

I find myself thinking a great deal more about my lines which is upping my accuracy a great deal but destroying that myth that artists can just mindlessly doodle greatness into place!

Polyvios Animations

Good evening, Sawyer_Street, and welcome to Line of Action, I'm Polyvios, how are you?

Nicer job on your broader strokes of gestures. Please keep up the greater works, but thank you.
