Hour Class pratice

Done as part of a 1 hour class.

My current goal is: Improve at correctly capturing the overall proportions of the human form

Rongogh_Art

You have a very good feel for gestures. There is good movement throughout all the figures. You also seem to have a basic grasp on anatomy and perspective. Your line quality is also developing nicely.

I have to ask, were you drawing each figure within each box? Or did you frame them post study? When learning the figure, drawing inside a border becomes restrictive. The student will tighten up and the movement of the medium becomes stiff and compressed. You will tend to use your fingers and wrist to draw where should be using your whole armor draw, drawing from the shoulder. An awkward technique at first, but you eventually get used to it and it becomes second nature. Even if you weren't using those borders, I can see that you are drawing rather small. As a consequence, your proportions are slightly off. Art schools will have you work on large newsprint sheets around 18inchesx24inches. This forces you to draw bigger. Which allows your figure to be more fluid and it allows you extra room for corrections which helps you work on proportions.

If you have no access to larger paper or it's too pricey, just use the paper you have and draw bigger. You will have to use more sheets of course, because the bigger you draw the less figures you can fit.

Always work on anatomy using whatever resources you can get and prefer. Copy skeletons and muscles from your anatomy books. This is a great way to work on proportions. Remember that this is all baby steps and it's best to improve on your skills little by little. And most importantly, alway remember to HAVE FUN!!!

Most exceptional job on your 1 hour class, soft_circles, nonetheless, I've got one most, most, most smaller request for you: Why don't you do 5 minutes of 30 second sketches,{(5x60)/30, 300/30=10 drawn pictures} if you may do so pretty, pretty, pretty please?????????? Why??????????? So just, you may get lots and lots of movement in your human relationships (proportions and angles). Make your devotions that it'll go extremely well.
