Faces and expressions critique request

by Marie, May 24th 2020 © 2020 Marie

Done as part of a 1 hour class.

My current goal is: Reduce stiffness and make my drawings feel more dynamic, energetic, fluid

Oasiris

Love the placement and accuracy of detail in the eyes, and everything is quite well-placed.

I haven't managed to make my drawings much less stiff than yours, but what definitely helps is practicing exaggerated expressions Seek out references of faces that are eccentric, shocked, guffawing, etc. Or, take a more mild photo and try to exaggerate the emotion yourself.

I like the facial angles you've got going on in the bottom-middle -- try taking more of those drawings to completion. I think the energy, dynanism, and mastery you're looking for will come from venturing into those waters.

Keep up the great work!

Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback! I'll try setting the classes to have more specific photos, that's some great advice. I am really appreciative of your help, thanks for taking the time to do so!

Fantabulous faces and expressions, mariearroyo, however I've got one small request: Would you like to go for 6 minutes of 30 second face sketches, pretty please?? Why??? Because, your squash and stretches in your expressions will become srtonger, and stongest. Petition that it'll work out for you.
