Day 28, Comparing.

Done as part of a practice session with poses of 5 minutes in length.

Hmm, I keep falling into the nasty habit of looking at the other art posted on the front page. Most of it looks considerably more skillful than anything I have mustered up, and the envy it creates is maddening. This is unhealthy, as it takes away all the credit that goes into everything they did, and only drags me down. Not entirly sure how to combat it, other than focus more on my own work.

I did some 5 minute poses today, to get a better gauge of where I'm at. I keep running out of time, and it rarely feels natural to draw in short bursts like this. Still have to practice observational skills more, but I think my structure has improved noticeably.

My current goal is: I don't know! I am an absolute beginner; I'm here to study the basics of rendering. Stay consistant with practice.

Say, your figures get phenomenal every day, Mass! Great work on your lines of action, weight and balance in sketching! Greater job.

I suppose that your lines of action and balance aren't too cartoony enough for my tastes. Would you please like to drop your wrists in favor of your elbow, just for 90 minutes of 27-second attitude drawings of figure characters? (5400 seconds/27 seconds=200 doodles) If that were up to you, so that your character drawings will become cartoons and caricatures of reality, instead of copies of it.

'Oh, anyway, here's a video to get you influenced:

'Sketchbook of Vivziepop (Zoophobia, Hazbin, Helluva Boss) Take what you will with a grain of salt, yet there're worth doing and trying.

Hope these help.

Hey there, while I do like to draw things cartoony, I wanted to learn figure drawing to get better at drawing realism. I was hoping that by learning techniques to draw from life better, it allow me to draw better cartoonizations of those things.

I appreciate the support you've given me, you comment on a lot of my posts, and give useful suggestions. So thanks.
