Done as part of a practice session with poses of 10 minutes in length.

My current goal is: Better understand human anatomy, so I can render imagined poses

Another good day of progress, I really like where #16 was going. I think I need to focus more on making the trunk thicker again, I was focusing on speed and continuous lines but they came together much better this time. Spent some extra time past the 30 minute session to sketch one of the poses I really liked.

J man ma dude, your people live in 2D land, you gotta get that knowledge and use volumes to give them a bit of 3D. This knowledge will make you rush for iron age much faster and give your people an advantage when fighting 2D dragons called direction. Without direction your archers will miss and the Ballista won't be able to sink that dragon either. Why? Because the dragon can sidestep EVERY 2D shot and will end up tearing your 2D people into shreds. (。 >艸

Hello Stuffed,

Could you be clearer? I don't understand all the Age of Empires II references you are making in your critique. Do you have a reference for "knowledge" I could use to improve?

I don't get very many critiques back and this seems like a waste of my time. Someone who takes this more seriously had the potential to tell me how to improve and you appear to have wasted that opportunity. I would be very pleased if I were wrong and you can address the questions in my above statement.

Haha, simply put. You need to show direction man, your shading is nice but you need volume, use more shapes than shade, her ribcage is as flat as the earth. I don't see how I was wasting your time. Sorry for my poor sense of humour.

Stuffed,

Excellent, this makes more sense. What exactly do you mean by direction? I normally start out with simple shapes for the skull, rib cage, and pelvis. What kind of shapes should I be using to make the drawings look less flat?

Thank you for your time.

There are many ways to do this, the fundamental one being cross contours. You can also cross hatch to show plane changes and get a sense of direction that way. There's no other way I can describe this so Vilpuu can show you instead ( ᐛ )و:

Also don't feel constricted to his style, there's so many ways out there! _へ__(‾◡◝ )>
