20-Second Loose Face Warm-Up Sketch

by Polyvios Animations, January 12th 2021 © 2021 Polyvios Animations

Done as part of a practice session with poses of 20 seconds in length.

My current goal is: Improve my understanding of the forces of my facial muscles, in terms of my facial anatomy.

As you can plainly see, I'm really having fun with the process of making the facial anatomy's forces more light and lively and long. What do you think?

P.S.

Just making the broadest strokes you've ever seen.

Huh...That is a unique understanding and perspective of using force on facial features. I've only understood force as something used in life drawing or gestures from the book Force Dynamic Life Drawing by Michael D. Mattesi. But the idea to apply it to faces never crossed my mind. Am I interpreting your idea correctly? How does it work? Am looking for forces, stretches etc.?

To be honest, and I'm not really gonna lie to you, but yet, forces can and could be applied to faces and expressions, because it can and will be useful in describing the facial features of the whole face, with one stroke.

I hope this answered your question.

Good luck, and happy practicing.
